For 1968 442 was not available with a 455, the 400 was the largest displacement for that model. The 400 had 350 HP. The W-30 was 360 HP with 400 CID . The 455 was standard on the Hurst Olds, rated at 390HP.

I had a 70 Cutlass S with a 455 and a turbo 400 that thing ate tires like it was built for it. Loved that machine

I've had few. First was a '67 in 68. Last is a '75 which I still have. Great cars all.

In 1968 the 442 was a stand alone car, not a Cutlass 442, simply a 442.

My friend has one. That 455 is a transmission eater.

No 1968 442 ever had a 455. GM corporate policy forbid any mid size, regular production cars from having more that 400 ci. That ban was lifted for model year 1970

All US cars beginning in 68 required front shoulder belts, the only exception would have been on convertibles where the shoulder belts would have still been optional but only a lap belt was actually required.

FOUR FOUR TWO!! There’s no FOURTY TWO anywhere that’s relevant to the car..

The 455 ci engine was only available in the cars equipped with the W-30 option package. First year for the A body 455 option. The rare Hurst Olds models also received the 455 engines. Great ride!

not all of the pre 1979442 model had a 455. SOME did get the Toronado 425 swapped in by owners.

Hurst 442 was the first muscle car I ever drove. Unforgetable

Yep, it too was destined to be Murkered by Mama GM. Seems Crybaby Chevrolet wasn't happy, and you know how vicious Mama GM is, having K¡lled LaSalle, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Saturn, SAAB, Holden, Vauxhall, Daewoo, Geo, Hummer, and the EV1 Electric Car . . . All because Mama's golden child wasn't happy.
