After Dark Clean and Disinfect for Covid-19
This video takes you through my routine step by step to show you all you need to do to keep your home disinfected. Covid 19 is known to stay on surfaces for hours up todays, and possibly longer.
While we are only going out if absolutely necessary just for groceries, my husband still has to
go to work. He works in a hospital, so keeping my home disinfected the best I can is super important. Fortunately, I’ve gotten the disinfecting down to about 15 minutes, and I’m going to show you how I do it.
Make sure to watch the whole thing though because there are some things you could be doing that might make your disinfectant to NOT disinfect
It’s 11 at night, all my family is in bed and this is when I like to do the disinfecting for a very specific reason which I’m going to get into in just a minute. I’m working with cleaners that I want to sit on surfaces for 5 minutes. I don’t want little hands grabbing a handle or doorknob that has bleach on it, so It’s easier to do it when they are all in bed.

Disinfecting is really a 2 step process.
1. Clean the surfaces - wipe off the dirt, food crumbs and dust using soap and water.
2 Use a disinfectant. The reason for this is that disinfectants are great at killing
bacteria and viruses, but not so good at cleaning, so if you are trying to use a disinfectant spray on a surface that is dirty, it will be less effective.
See how to make a DIY disinfectant spray that uses bleach and follows CDC guidelines for dilution.
In the kitchen - clean counters and tables with all purpose cleaner. Wipe down handles, doorknobs, fridge, dishwasher, handles, stove knobs and doors, high chair, backs of chairs, light switches and more. Clean the sink and faucet.
Don't forget the bathroom counters, toilet handle, sinks and faucets.
In the family room - remote controls, phones, keyboards and tablets. Replace hand towels with new clean ones.
