The event revolved around three interconnected themes: addressing media freedoms; combating mis/disinformation; and understanding online behaviour.

Elizabeth Canellakis from the US Embassy in Malta talks about social media and foreign policy. Ms. Cannelakis argues that governments have an important role to play in advocating for the responsible use of social media and leading in the digital space by example. Fact-based reporting on world events should be delivered in real-time to even the most vulnerable populations.
