The Chesterfield County Police Department is warning residents about a cell phone scam after an elderly couple fell victim to one earlier this week.

This scam happened earlier this week. In this case, it was a scam caller posing as the attorney of the couple’s great nephew.

“[The victims] hear somebody on the phone that sounds like their relative and that's how they get hooked into [the scam],” said Chesterfield County Detective Michael Bowser. “That's when the money starts coming out.”

I would have to tell them: IT IS NOT MY FAULT he BROKE the law and needs bail money! He should contact HIS bank for it. IF the bank doesn't trust him for repayment of a loan, WHY would I? I AM NOT a BANK! Buh-bye!
