in kindergarten all those years ago, i remember a girl. sara was her name. she was so nice. everyone was so rude to me, but she understood me and was so kind. she would always ask what i was going to do, and i felt at home with her. she was kinder than my parents.
i miss her so much. i feel as though she was the only one who truly cared about me my entire life.

This reminds me of this one person I met during school.
As soon as I saw them I immediately felt a connect between us. It wasn’t until weeks later did I decide to talk to them. They were fun, they shared the same interests as me, and we would even act out songs in the back of the playground.
Fast forwards to the beginning of middle school, where the pandemic started. They switched to online school and we lost connection fast. But at least a month we got back together in a discord call with another one of their friends.
At this time I never realized how much I loved them, I didn’t realize I had a crush on them all these years.
We were in the group call and the other friend (let’s call her snatcher) says she likes someone.
We ask who and she says “hatkid”…
The thing is that we’d assign ourselves characters from games we’d play and they were hatkid.
I didn’t realize it then but now I regret never considering the feelings I had for them.
Now they’re happy with their partner…
I’m happy for them, but I still miss those days.
