forgiveness doesnt mean forgetting someone wronged you, it means you no longer allow it to affect your behavior

I hated this scene so much because I was Mack. I’m not stuck because I can’t. I’m stuck because I won’t. So powerful and so true.

Graham captured God's patience...he doesn't snap or lash out at us when we get angry or upset when things go wrong...he listens to us but tries to help us see things from his point of view.

People tend to think that forgiveness entails giving second chances or letting them get away with what they did. Coming from someone who rarley gives second chances this isn't the case. You can forgive someone and still cut them completely out of your life. You do not even have to tell them that you forgive them.

It is really well explained in this scene... It answers basically all the questions and misconceptions about forgiveness... It really helped me.

Forgiveness does not mean destroying all emotions, but helps to deal with them so that they won‘t destroy you. Forgiveness does not mean approving or forgetting the wrong done to you, nor excusing the person. Forgiveness does not mean friendship or trust, not even need to see the person ever again. Forgiveness does not mean you cannot seek legal justice if someone broke law - Mack actually does that in the book...

This scene really helped me. I left my abusive family behind and always asked how can I forgive someone who isn't sorry. Then I realised its not just about them. It doesn't build a relationship or excuse what they have done great film

I'm just getting to remember this movie after 2 years when someone emotionally tormented me. At first I felt resentment towards this person until I remembered this movie so I watched it again and realized that at one point in time this was a very nice person to me before she became heartless. The choice to not forgive and seek vengeance is human, but also a horrible thing to do because it makes the situation worse than it needs to be.

People have done some of the most horrific things to me. When God taught me forgiveness. I cried out for justice. Then Jesus helped me to understand - He paid for it all, even for their sins. Justice was poured out at the cross. I was able to forgive after that

This movie is so powerful, and it’s so beautiful, it’s taught me how to forgive the unforgivable.
I don’t forgive people for their sake, I forgive them for myself.
I forgive them because of the hatred and resentment I hold against them is eating me alive, moth spiritually and mentally... and it’s true, I cannot love as much when I don’t forgive, I prevent my growth as a person when I want revenge.

In a few hours I will be speaking in front of my fellow members of the church about forgiveness and that leads me here, and I'm on my tears right now.

I just want to say I am a recent fan of Sam Worthington, so I decided to binge watch all his movies. As I search for his movies, I am actually shocked that he is the lead in The Shack. All along I thought it was Chris Pratt. I've seen some scenes of this film years ago but was not able to finish it. Now, I have finally watch the whole film. I want to thank all the people involved in making this film especially Sam. I admire him more now. I've read in some comments that Hollywood does not like this kind of film so it is brave for Sam to accept this.

I also want to share that I can relate with this film because my sister died. So heartbreaking. She died in front of me in the hospital. Still haunts me up to this day. Recently my family and I went to the cemetery to visit her because it was her birthday. As I walk through our way, I can't help but to cry because I can't still accept the fact that she's gone. 2 years have passed since she died, I continually pray to God every day to help me move on, and at the same time thanking Jesus because I know they are taking care of my sister in heaven

Paul killed and murdered Christians and he was redeemed. God can make even the most sinister man whole again.

As a grown man of 20 years old this makes me absolutely sob. I had the same relationship with my bio father and while I’ll never forget what he did to me I’m trying to hard to forgive him. Some days I can and other days I can’t. Sometimes I just hope life makes it easier.

This is why GOD is good. He in not giving a command to forgive, but first leveling with Mack to show that as God; father and creator to Mack creation and his child.
He gets where he's coming as the individual who was wronged and hurt, and that he wants GOD who sees knows all and has the right to enact judgement to punish him. But GOD also explains that he is also his child and that man will be dealt with accordingly. But this is more about him healing, so he can be better physically mentally emotionally and spiritually.
This demonstrates that while GOD is above and beyond everything he is connected to everything at the same time so we never have to feel alone, embarrassed or ashamed to come to him about anything. In addition, it shows that GOD will always take time for you personally always in his own way to help and speak to us in a way we can understand so we can individually have a relationship with him and he with us.
