His ring work isn't what's wrong with Ricochet. His problem is that he doesn't have a character or gimmick other than being a good flippy dude. In Lucha Underground he was given a hell of a gimmick which is why he got over with the viewers. Rey Mysterio didn't get over for the flippy doos but for his character of being a small guy going against Giants and because of his Mask kids of all ages could relate to him.

The fact that someone who has been in the business for 20+ years yet can't understand this fact says a lot about how clueless he is. I'm a fan of 30+ years yet I'm still a fan so I shouldn't know more about this than someone on the business.

I really like ricochet but it’s his replies to any slight criticism that make it worse. Like how he went for that one girl who said she’s a fan of his but doesn’t watch AEW and he went in on her. It was ridiculous because if anything the way he replied will make people not want to to tune in

I've watched Ricochet since he was in Chikara. I like him, but he definitely has a ceiling right below the main event level.

I love Richochets in-ring work but he just listed four world champs, some of them multi time rumble winners or champs. If he wants to entertain the main event scene that's great, but it definitely keeps his ceiling loooow

It's not what you do in the ring that makes get the fans invested, it's why and how you do it.

The best example is the RKO. Countless superstars do the cutter, but no one does it like quite like Randy. If you notice, Randy's RKO is quite slow compared to other's cutters. But it's how protected the move is, how he builds up the move, and how he lands it is what gets the fans going. Since it's hard to tell story with choreography, great wrestlers slows it down, builds up the tension, and create a story while performing the moves.

All those critics weren't exactly wrong. His style has helped lower the bar for wrestling. To many performers think that's all you need to be successful and is not. He's talented but still one dimensional.

Just listen to Six Feet Under and hear what THE UNDERTAKER thinks of the current day style of wrestling. He doesn't mention Ricochet by name but you can read between the lines that today there are too many high spots with flippy dippy stuff.(Using a Paul Heyman quote verbatum). Wrestling is Storytelling with their bodies. You can't really tell a story when you yell all the time. That is just annoying.
