A Japanese rocket attempting to launch a satellite into space has dramatically exploded just seconds after take off.

Tokyo-based startup Space One launched the unmanned rocket on Wednesday morning, attempting to become Japan’s first private firm to put a satellite into orbit.

However, the Kairos rocket exploded just moments after takeoff, sending debris flying into the nearby mountains and into the sea.

Firefighters were called to extinguish a fire started by falling rocket parts, but authorities have confirmed nobody was hurt.

I’m really glad they showed us the explosion part of the video. Some say extraterrestrial intervention to mitigate space weaponry. Why not show moments of explosion? 🤔🧐😳💀
