I love Muay thai but I'll keep cheering for Karate ;-)

Kickboxing is boxing+kicks+knees. While muay thai is an art of its own. A bit like comparing fried egg with rice and egg fried rice with toppings. Same ingredients but enjoyed very differently.

They set a very different pace from Muay Thai. The scoring is also different. Kickboxing highly values aggression and combos. Muay Thai emphasise more on sweeps, kicks more so than punches. That's why spam a lot of middle kicks. Punches are mere set ups for kicks.

Nevertheless, I love both sports as a fan. Thanks one champ for bringing both sports on mainstream media.

Muay has a waaay higher number of professional fighters, who live to train and fight. No hobby athletes. As well, MT is a competitive, fight-to-win-money business since centuries. Competition brings results. And breeds not only fighters, but also trainers. Routine, routine, routine. All respect to Oyama and students. I once fought a Euro-champ kyo fighter, "simplified MT" rules: he was really like a "tank", very strong, but did not know how to use the ring. That is an art and a science in itself, boxing is also KING for that reason.

Solid point about the clinching and elbows! A lot of US Muay Thai gyms focus less on elbows, clinch and sweeps due to the state and regional rule sets for most amateur organizations, which pretty much turns the classes into K1 rules with teeps as well haha. That being said, I'd rather know it and not need it, than need it and not know it 😅

Train both 🤷 Muay Thai is strong but kind of slow, Kyokushion is all about speed and power. I wil demonstrate the power of different kicks when my debit card arrives so I can download the youtube app 🤷 Expiration date is soon

He just broke 3 wooden baseball bats with one kick! That's way more bones than I have in one lower leg! D:

I also picked Muy Thai. I don't know, always thought it was more versatile!

Your conclusion is laughably out of step with reality.

Kyukoshin has produced far more champs in Kickboxing (check out the list of K1 GP champs), MT (Toshio Fujiwara and Kozo Takeda, both Raja champs, not to mention many Kyukoshin based fighters beating Thai champs in MT rules), and even MMA (Bas Rutten, GSP). Muay Thai fighters, with exceptions like Buakaw and Superbon, struggle in K1, not to speak of MMA.

Moreover, Kyukoshin has had a far greater influence: Dutch Kickboxing, old-school Japanese Kickboxing, Combat Sambo, Kudo.

I believe it's best to cross train both to become a better fighter overall.

Its not the style.
Its the experience of and the fighter.
And partially genetics.

I love the conclusion that states both Kyo and Muay Thai produces great Kick Boxers! Kind of true that MT has a badass training

Kyokuskin Kate does help in sparring, you don't know anything about Kyokushin just a vague and bais discretion of Kyokushin.

If Muay thai is too hard, try Kyokushin. Kyokushin is just a watered down version of Muay thai. Also, Kickboxing is born when a Karate fighter saw Muay thai and was highly impreessed, thus he incorporated Muay thai into Karate to create (American) kickboxing and Kyokushin. Muay thai is the founder of most modern Kickboxing today. You van already see that Kyukushin is heavily influenced by Muay thai as Kyokushin keeps things simple and it doesnt have other fancy kicks like other Karate styles do.
