I had a similar problem until I bought a human sized dog bed. Ever since I started to nap (sleep) in there, my dog just has to cuddle up with me. I’ve gradually transitioned back to my own bed but the dog won’t leave his new human sized dog bed. Every so often I’ll nap in there just to make him happy.

I sleep with a great Dane and a dingo x heeler (before that, two Borzoi). I'm thankful for their warmth and their willingness to fetch things for me and assist me with standing. I've trained dogs for 60 years. Sharing my bed is a small price for cementing our pack.

Ownership of material things is very important to dogs. My dog has a mat that she sleeps on outside. If I take it to wash it, she rushes at me to take it back. Your dog is enjoying OWNERSHIP.

For people who thinks it's okay for them to sleep on the same bed, some exceptions applies. Theres nothing wrong with it but sometimes allergic reaction is kicking up or you have something that requires you to sleep more and u cant because the dogs probably keep you up at night. Ive slept on the same bed with my 2/3 babies for years (if i let on up, the other two get jealous and stuff 😂) but they can ruin my sleep. They kept changing positions and one would slept on my legs, one slept on my neck and one slept on my tummy 😂😂or they need sense something and want to get out so they would bark/scratch at the door. trust me, as much as i love dogs, that was a horrible situation 😂

Wolves like to sleep or rest in small depressions in the ground, where they're less visible. Maybe that's something that some dogs still like to be reminded of, subconsciously. Dogs are still wolves genetically and like "wolf things".

We have one of these for our cat, its the only bed she's ever slept in, because of the shape, it makes her feel safe, best bed we've ever got

I have one like that for my little girl, but I have a huge one for her. I think the one that I have would work better for your dog because he’s a bigger dog. I think the one you have for him is quite small.

My dog LOVES that bed too because it's deep & snug around him. He chooses it over my bed all the time to the point I've put the dog bed on my bed so he can still be near me lol
