“It’s Just Anxiety” #wait

Long Covid is a recognized condition where individuals experience lingering symptoms long after the initial Covid-19 infection has passed. Research suggests that women may be more susceptible to developing long Covid, partly due to their immune system's tendency toward a stronger inflammatory and autoimmune response. This heightened immune activity, while beneficial for fighting infections, can sometimes lead to prolonged inflammation, making women more prone to lingering symptoms that characterize long Covid.

These persistent symptoms can range from fatigue, brain fog, and shortness of breath to more severe complications, such as cardiovascular or neurological issues. In some cases, the body’s immune response may misfire, leading to autoimmune-like symptoms, where the immune system begins to attack healthy tissues. This predisposition, combined with long Covid’s potential to impact multiple organ systems, can cause serious complications that significantly affect daily life and well-being. The reality of long Covid underscores the importance of ongoing research, targeted treatments, and support for those at higher risk.

Anytime a doctor says it's just 'anxiety', demand a second opinion.

My friend just died of lung cancer(non-smoker) after being told for *years* that she was simply overweight and just needed to exercise more. . .when someone finally took her seriously she had 6 months to live.

Why does a physician think they are qualified to diagnose a patient with anxiety?

Poor girl, she’s being very strong being humorous when I would be completely devastated.

Doctors go to school for so long just to tell people they have anxiety

I used to follow her on tik tok. She would update about her eye problems. She went to many doctors trying to "fix" it. Her ordeal was sad but she always had a positive attitude. Last time saw her on tik tok a doctor finally did something to stop the swelling. After that I got banned from tik tok so had no idea what happened. recently randomly came across her video on YouTube with the eye removed. As always she has a positive attitude with her new prosthetic eye.

You know what makes me anxious? Doctors when they begin to say, "its your anxiety.." or "hows your mental health been lately" 😅😢

I had Graves' disease. Lost 20 kg(44lbs) in half a year, vomited more than twice every single day and many more symptoms and my doctor also told me it was my psyche. Until they took my blood at the psychiatry and found out that my thyroid hormon results were way, WAY too high and I needed to go to the hospital. That same doctor told me I could've died from that. Needless to say, he is not my doctor anymore🙃
Btw sorry if I misspelled something, English is not my forst language😅

Doctors simply don't care and patients suffer. It's obviously not every doctor but it's a huge portion of them. All over the world this problem exists, it would seem.

I've been given the wrong drugs and told I had IBS. I didn't. I have a stomach problem.

It's so good you have this platform to educate people on various medical problems and diseases etc

I had Covid two summers in a row and it knocked me on my ass. And recently I was exposed to whooping cough by a patient who hid that they had it because they didn't want to be quarantined. Now I am reconsidering my career change.

Covid is devastating as is, but all the extra (permament) stuff it can trigger in one's body is wild. My experience with it led my body to developing type 1 diabetes (specifically LADA) 3 months after recovering from covid. There is no history of any types of diabetes throughout my family's history and ancestors.
Also took me having to get a 3rd doctor's opinion to be taken seriously when I first started presenting diabetic symptoms. The previous 2 doctors looked at me and literally said "you're young and healthy, you dotn have diabetes. Just stop eating so much sugar if you're concerned"

I had covid in January and it’s affected my hormones. TMI but I’ve got what can only be described as sexual dysfunction. Since January inability to orgasm, vaginal dryness, loss of libido, fatigue …the list goes on. My GP said she’s seen many patients with similar issues. I think it’s triggered early perimenopause in my case.

Can the fact that men are taken more seriously by medical professionals eventually lead to reporting a ‘more acute and short form of covid’ in men?

Thanks for posting this as a physician and a male presenting one at that. The amount of women my age that I know whose symptoms are dismissed is just frankly ENRAGING. The more Drs don't trust their patients, the more patients don't trust their Drs, & vice versa. It becomes a vicious circle where its far too often the patient who pays most dearly.

I had long covid. The illness itself was debilitating but I barely remember the next few months afterwards due to brain fog and sleeping all the time.
