UAFX Enigmatic | ‘82 Overdrive Special

It’s likely I’ll never get to play a real Dumble amp. But UAFX have made a pedal that apparently models 4 different Dumble amps! Let’s see how it sounds.

Great sounding pedal. It occurs to me that we have at last found wonderful ways to capture the sound of guitar without the agony of mic'ing up amp/speakers. I've struggled for decades, never been totally happy with my recorded sound, but lately, it's been a revelation to just DI record, and tweak the sound to suit the track later with a fresh ear. As always, prefect demo man. Hey thanks! My Enigmatic is already on order. Looking forward to digging in. I have been a huge Dumble Dreamer for decades now since I first knew that a big part of Larry Carlton's sound (other than his fingers!!) was his Dumble amp. That is when I was smitten. Obviously, I cannot afford one - especially since Howard Dumble's passing. A gazillion $$$ is not something I can do. But this pedal - as with all the other UA pedals, will allow me to pretend that I am wealthy and finally can stroke the Dumble off my bucket list. Thanks again for sharing your talents on guitar and your demo expertise. You're a great, tasty player and I love the way you methodically break down a product and explain it's features without any real bias. Thanks Rabea. (I subscribed a long time ago. I will never know what it is like to play a Dumble or really what a Dumble is supposed to sound like, but this pedal does sound good. I'm a fan of supro-style amps/pedals/tones and this seems to do that. May have to give this a try at some point. I really liked the '68 Lion.

If every Dumble was made to measure and therefore each sounded unique, for all we know you might be able to get a good approximation of one of them by using a Boss DS-1. We now just have to search for that Dumble!

I'd LOVE to hear Mark Tremonti's thoughts on this pedal... he has/has owned numerous Dumble amps. ditto for Bonamassa, . This whole range of pedals has been unreal so far... maybe UA is working up to their own modeller (a la Fractal/QC etc).
