Have you ever thought of taking the pros and cons of each system and then making the “ awkward (clean) mom” cleaning system ?

As a former maid, I learned that you always start at the top and work your way down--ceiling, fans, railings, window sills/windows, then furniture, then floors. Use the same cleaning supplies for everything so you aren't using 1 thing for windows/mirrors, another for stoves, another for floors and on and on---try to use multi-purpose cleaners or, actually, just vinegar and water. Always use lint free cloths, or paper towels you can toss out. This method just makes things go much faster and smoother.

I've been watching Angela Brown. She's a professional housecleaner with a lot of good tips for cleaning particular things like baseboards. But my favorite video she made was on being grateful to clean. I *hate* cleaning my house, but Angela said we should be thankful for everything we have to clean. She is so right! Saying thank you for my stove instead of grumbling about wiping it down makes a world of difference. An attitude of gratitude goes a long way!

One thing my mom taught me about dishes is this: dishes made while cooking can be cleaned and put away while you wait on things to cook, and dishes made after eating should be cleaned and put away after you eat each time. This leaves no pile of dishes to build up and is probably why it's left off of most cleaning routines because it's assumed you wash them and put them away after your meal, snack or while you wait for your meal to cook after the prep.

Is there anyone else like me, who spends more time watching cleaning tips videos than ACTUALLY CLEANING?? 😸

I also (almost) never clean during the week (except dishes, but that's a given), and save it all up til Saturday. Yeah I know it's harder that way, and I spend a lot more time cleaning that way, but seriously I'm up at 5:30 a.m. to exercise, and then after a fast shower and breakfast I go to work and don't get home till 6:00 most days. By then I'm too damn tired to give a shit about cleaning. I also never buy takeout or eat processed convenience foods, it's all homemade (whole food plant-based) so I batch prep on Sundays. So I am interested in trying a better method for cleaning, hence why I started watching these videos. I'll give it a try one of these days. 😺

I have a tip from my Mum. Don’t just put your freshly washed and dried washing in the basket for folding later. Just fold them when you take them off the line or out of the dryer. Saves a step. Don’t double handle if you can help it.
I resisted for so long but it really does help

So thankful I’m not the only grown adult who doesn’t have a cleaning system and has to learn them. Thank you for your research and hard work!!!

Absolutely best thing I ever did was get the toys out of my kids bedrooms and rotate them Montessori style. I got big covered bins and they went in a closet or the garage. The kids could all choose a bin they wanted out and had to put it away to get a different one. Made clean up quick and easy enough for THEM to do. It creates good picking up habits for them.

I’ve grown to really love this channel and I just realised why. You’re just so real and relatable. I love that I get to follow you through trying these different systems instead of watching you go about your already perfected routines, but at the same time your house isn’t a complete mess. It’s just normal everyday family mess. A lot of cleaning channels depict either perfect, tidy homes or hoarder houses. I can enjoy both but at this point in life I don’t relate with neither. Used to have a spotless home but now after baby no 2 I need to start over and find a new strategy to keep on top of it. Thank you for letting us into your home and life!

Omg I love this girls energy. There's so many mom vloggers bless them, they just are too much and I can never get through a video without a headache but this lady is so pleasant, I could listen to her all day

Hey! So I follow the organised mum method and it’s genius! With regards to laundry, I’ve modified it to doing one load every OTHER day and then putting it away the next. So wash one day, fold the next. That way it fits the schedule. Keep it up it really is worth it. Plus for your dining room, you can fit that in to the Friday focus miscellaneous or say on weds when your entryway will only take 5 mins, use the remaining time instead… it’ll work itself out.

I think the difference between UK and US washing machines are where you'd find it difficult to fold every day. Uk washing machines seem to hold a lot less as we often have smaller machines in the kitchen under a counter and hang clothes to dry instead of using a dryer (many have them but it's cheaper to hang outside). For reference, my machine can handle 1 set of bedding only and that's probably pushing it to the weight maximum. Doing 1 wash a day keeps on top of the washing but does only take a few minutes to fold everything, unless theres loads of socks! 😊

She really doesn’t have a cleaning routine, but she is big on decluttering. A home that is free of clutter automatically looks cleaner.

I've been bingeing her videos and figured out why they appeal. Because she's real about the mess, and she's real about not loving cleaning. A ton of other videos I've watched they seem to massively enjoy cleaning. Made me feel like maybe I was the odd one. But... I'm not the only one that does not enjoy laundry, dishes, etc. I'm not the only one that thinks of cleaning 20 sq ft of bathroom as though it were climbing Mt. Everest. But after watching this one, I actually sat down and created my own cleaning list for the month, and I've actually been doing it for three or four days now. My house is cleaner, and I still hate cleaning, but it doesn't feel quite so overwhelming either. Except dishes. Those are still horrible.

I've watched several channels to see how they work with cleaning routines, but I always come back here. She's so much fun to watch. And realistic. Most of the others don't act like real people.

Tip for laundry - consider not folding all pieces of laundry. I've gone to a method where I just toss things like undergarments and pajamas in a predefined space (I'm using storage cubes) without folding, and I do the same thing for things that don't wrinkle or I don't care if they wrinkle. Then I hang as much as possible.

The main things I fold are cloths, towels, and certain T-shirts. That has taken the time to do laundry down -significantly- and I almost never have the issue of "uncared for" laundry anymore.

Got this tip from a Youtube mom who had like 13+ children. Her engineer husband was the one who came up with the idea.

I’ve been hardcore cleaning and decluttering for a week. Last week I was diagnosed with severe adhd and autism so I was hoping that becoming as minimalist will help with all of that! Anyways, thanks for making me laugh and lightening my week!

This is an absolute game changer. I watched your video last week and got started on Thursday. I’m 50 and an empty nester but in all the years of bringing up my kids I never managed to find a routine I could stick to. I’m not very domesticated but setting a timer so that I’m not overwhelmed by thinking I have to clean for hours makes this system effortless. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

A laundry tip I implemented that saved me time and annoyance was to wash everyone’s clothes separately- so no time wasted looking at an item deciding which child’s, and so quick and easy to put in the basket and put away. In this way, daily laundry works bc loads are shorter too!

I’ve always used the wash dishes as you go - while cooking. By the time we sit down to eat most of the dishes are already done ( or the dishwasher is running because there was enough for a load). Then we do up The few remaining dishes after eating then wipe down. I remember doing dishes when I was very young, mom instilled the importance of keeping the kitchen clean.
