i love surrah fatiha so very much that i get emotional when i read it. surah fatiha is the only surrah in the quran that when we read it Allah actually responds to us and the fact that Allah responds to me with each verse makes me so humble. honored and loved. the second surrah i love is surah Mulk i love this surah for many reasons but most of all it makes me feel safe. Jazakallah sheik Omar for sharing this story with us it made me tear up. I'm such a cry baby :)

🔴SURAH WE ARE DISCUSSING
:al ikhlas

🔴The man we are discussing
Unknown (his name is not mentioned in the hadith)
He was the imaam of the masjid kuba (who used to lead prayer in kuba) kuba is a famous masjid in madinah (its sunnah to pray two raka'ats there .its near masjid nabwi

🔴His story
This man used to lead prayer in masjid kuba .he would read suarh fatihah then surah ikhlaas and after surah ikhlaas instead of doing ruku, he would continue and read another surah . All the companions were confused . He did this in every raka'at. He would constantly do this until the companion came and told him that either you read surah ikhlas and that is sufficient or you could read another surah and that is sufficient also but you cant do both.
Upon hearing this the man said "look i am never gonna stop doing this " "this is a condition for me being your imaam". Meaning that i will continue to do that and if u have any problem regarding this then replace someone else with me, i will not be your imaam . To which all the companions disagree bcz they knew that he is the most pious/ best of companion among them. So the companions went to prophet s.a.w and told him s.a.w the whole situation. Prophet s.a.w called him and he asked "oh "so and so" what stops you feom doing ejat your companions asked?" And he replied " i love this surah " (inni uhhibuha :arabic) and prophet s.a.w saw sincerity and love for this Surah in his eyes and said "your love for this surah has guaranteed you entrance in the paradise"
Subhanallah!
Now, there is an argument that ppl can make, " if he loved surah ikhlaas why did not he only read ikhlaas and continue his prayer" the answer is because he wanted to pray long rakaats and since surah ikhlaas is short he woul add another longer surahs with it .

Just know that if prophet s.a.w allowed this man to pray like this does not mean its a sunnah or farz to pray like this. It was particularly for that man that prophet s.a.w approved it.

Find your favorite surrah and love it. Read it. Read it often . Maybe always. Think about it . Read its tafseer. Fall in love with the words of Allah s.w.t and become a people of quran as Allah loves "ahlal quran" (people of quran) .

I am so happy that I find your exploration.
I been attached so greatly to this sura so I have " the same problem" and my husband said to me that no is not sunna and I should pray like that but I could stop myself. I am so relieved that is permitted. Thank you.
