I'm working on my 1967 Camaro with a sbc 350..white smoke high pressure in the coolant, and i installed a clear hose between the intake manifold and the waterpump and can clearly see air bubbles when i bring up rpms, I have no choice but to pull the heads and have them magnafluxed by a machine shop, thank you for you great video and explaining in detail..

KW Uses air operated heater valves in some of there bunks that when the seals fail internally they introduce air under system pressure into the cooling system. When this happens it will produce bubbles in the bottle test, as well as air locking the thermostats. I hope this info helps somebody out there. Thanks AA for the great content in your videos.

Hey man, really loving your vids and your work. I'm a Construction equipment mechanic and your videos really help the thought process. Shout out from Barbados

If you are not sure clean the surface, put kerosene or parafin( im not sure about the english name), the sort you use for a heater or lamp, on the surface and wipe it clean. Then use white chalk on the surface. If its cracket the parafin that stayed in the crack will discoulour the chalk. There is a kit called coulour check or dye check. Works rhe same way. Also to be used on welding checks.

Thanks for the videos. I have found them very helpful and interesting.

I have a 2005 Bounder with a 300HP C7. We tow a 2017 F-150 behind it. I replaced the radiator and charge air cooler 2 years ago, about 12k miles ago. Total miles is about 96k. Last year the fan hub bearings seized near Williams, AZ and I had it repaired in Bellemont. I also had them flush the heater lines and replace both thermostats. He gave me an extra gallon of coolant because he said it would need to be refiled if there was any air in the coolant system that hadn't worked out yet.

Last week it almost overheated while driving to Pahrump, getting just up to the 3/4 line. The check engine like came on. When it dropped just below the 3/4 line the temp read 213° F. When I got to the RV park the coolant was low so I filled it up. Driving back to the Central Valley it started to heat up, but never got up to the 3/4 line, which is about 215° F. I can put my finger into the top tank when cool and it reaches coolant, so it is pretty full after driving the 300 miles home. I don't see any evidence of coolant in the oil or oil in the coolant. I warmed it up on a short drive and tried the bubble test anyway and got no bubbles.

I sure would like any suggestions about possible reasons for the heating up. It is usually on a grade, but some grades hardly affect the temperature at all.

cool videos. I used to work for a truck shop for years. Ive had to replace several heads on c15s. I used your method before. Works awsome. Two were due to broken water pumps and trying to make the delivery. Don't take much to crack thise heads.

I took my cylinder head to the machine shop to be rebuilt and find out its cracked between the valves on cylinders 5 they said they can fix it for extra $$. I need to know if that's worth it or better get a new one.

suggest for solution.. make a double radiator from bypass with smaller radiator, measure time and temperature for thermostat to opening

another great video! nice to see someone who takes pride in their work. did you spend any time on equipment side or just prefer trucks?

Ok so I’ve got a 2012 Ford Focus SE. First had a coolant leak. Sent it to the Ford Company to get it fixed. They hit me for $800. After watching this video. I learned that I had pressure build up. So you telling me the top line mechananics this place didn’t do that this and tell me. Is there something I can do? Cuz I’m pretty sure they owe me a new motor for free. Literally. Still have all my receipts and everything.

Been following you for a while now. Finally got a good question to ask. How would you tell if the liners were cracked versus the head or head gasket failure. My truck is pressuring and getting slight mixing. No smoke from exhaust but definitely white blow by

For what its worth 9 out of 10 times there is a reason for the head gasket failure, on the cyl with the problem it is imperative that the liner be pulled and the counterbore examined with a trained eye. There is a very good chance there is a crack in the counterbore. The procedure for that is done with a counterbore cutter, cut out the crack and shim it back and set liner protrusion, check the rest, if you dont, be right back with the same problem. I dont see a video on cooling system maint ? Folks need schooled on AF and how it turns acidic. Nice job on the vids

Yes it's c15. I Replace head on this engine 150'000 miles ago and that start blowing air into the radiator I take the head off and the gasket the rings are black on one side but I don't see cracks on the head I'm thinking what to do.

Learned a lot from your videos. My c15 ate a gallon of water in three weeks. I did the bottle test and it didn't bubble at first but then it started bubbling not as bad as your video but there is bubbles. Wonder if it could be radiator cap weak
