Nintendo Switch's success is due to a combination of things, especially the games. But one factor that I think people don't give enough credit to is its portability. It's the whole reason I got one back in 2017 after skipping the WiiU and we now have 4 of them in our household. This next system better keep hybrid functionality.

I think I'm gonna hold out for the scratch and sniff Analogue Pocket.

You are surprisingly upfront about how the corporations treat subscription services and game pass. It is refreshing, and being honest might have a larger impact on your viewer base than one would expect! Kudos!

The Nintendo Switch is pretty much unstoppable at this point.

The Switch’s success has a lot of competing companies jealous, why else do you think we have all these wanna be devices that started after the Steam deck

The fact that the Switch has the possibility of overtaking the PS2 in the US is kinda insane, hopefully it'll manage to do the same with global sales

Wii Sales were wild. I remember back in the Wii era, when Wii Fit released here I was working in the local airport and met a couple of women who flew from England to the north of Ireland to find a Wii and Wii Fit Balance Board for sale as they could not find any locally.

Seeing the Switch overtaking the PS2 seems fitting considering both systems have a library that is almost unparalleled in their diversity.

Glow in the dark Analog Pocket exists because of the 90s. Everything had a glow in the dark version

Like the DS system of consoles, the next iteration, if it is an improved Switch...will that count toward total Switch sales?

Lots of games that start with the letter S this year…Spider-Man 2, Starfield, Sea of Stars, Spinal Fantasy XVI, Segment of Selda:TOTK, Sogwarts Legacy, Sarcasm Core 6…2023 has been superb.

Something I haven’t seen mentioned much (outside of Kickstarter) is that Sea of Stars is a prequel to The Messenger. Sabotage has been pretty vague about that fact so I’m pretty exited to find out what that means

I'm old enough to remember N64, Playstation, and Dreamcast kiosks lol those were so much fun

It’s kind of crazy that the Switch is just passing the Wii in North America. Just goes to show how popular the Wii was here.

Even if the major console become all digital, I think smaller companies will continue to produce physical games to go with their home console or handheld like the Evercade. I like to think there will always be a large enough market for physical games and some kind of home console for those physical games.

That glow in the dark Analog Pocket just SCREAMS late '90s gaming tech to me. I remember when everything seemed to either be glow in the dark or see through, from GameBoys and 64s to Dual Shock controllers. I had a translucent teal colored Dual Shock myself.

I wish that would make a comeback, honestly. The see through shit was rad af. lol

What a great year it has been for every system. Truly a great time to be a gamer.

Going back further, I remember the SNES and Genesis kiosks at Sears. My mom would drop me and my younger brother off at those while she went shopping and those are still some of my fondest game memories I've ever had.

Sea of Stars is a prime example of why smaller games need services like Game Pass and PS+ Extra. It wouldn’t have gone under the radar but it would’ve been a Switch indie darling and then forgotten by everyone else. Glad it got a fat check from Sony and Microsoft to at least recoup the costs while everyone else is busy with Starfield and Armored Core and I hope it gathers many players and sales
