Fiesta Mall is located in Mesa, AZ and is a dead mall. This footage was captured September of 2016. I was harassed by security guards while filming so had to do most of the filming incognito.

Jewlery stores are normally pretty dead mall resistant because of all the high-end stuff they sell, all they need to do is sell one ring a day and they're all set for profits that day.

My dad was born and raised in Mesa, I still have a lot of family there. Whenever we went to go visit my grandparents, I would love to come here. The last time I visited this mall was in 2002, I remember it being a hopping place. I think every lot had a store there.

Rip malls
I can’t believe this video is 8 years old
Brick and mortar shopping is my favorite
I miss what it was like

Crazy that Sears was ultimately the final holdout. Over the last 15 years or so, Sears closing was typically one of the first signs that a mall was in trouble.

I always seem to come back to this video. The background music, your voice, and me remembering a bygone era make this video feel so nostalgic. We truly don’t know what we have until it’s gone..

I think the biggest absence in all these dead malls is youth, no teens or young people walking around. Society is just evolving away from this type of shopping.

Great video. I watch a lot of Dan Bell and Ace's Adventures vids and yours is really good. Great job.

After 4 years of wonderful content, it's great to revisit where it all started. Congratulations on 100K subscribers, Erik. It's well deserved. I've enjoyed your content since finding your channel in January 2017.

Excellent video and your choice of background music was perfect. Dying malls is a subject very dear to my heart having grown up in malls in their heyday in the 80's. As each one drops, it feels like I just lost another old friend. You Sir have another subscribe. Thanks for posting. 😆🖒

When Hot Dog on a Stick can not keep open in a mall you know the mall is going down. Fiesta Mall lost it's Hot Dog on a Stick a year or so back.

Update:
They completely demolished it a couple of months ago

I moved to AZ in 1986 and grew up in that area. I used to cruise that mall in the early 90's constantly. great memories of my teen years.

6:54 IIRC that small store you pan by on the second floor was an EB Games and eventually a GameStop in the 2000s. I spent a lot of time in that store 20 years ago!

Re:Jewelry stores - I can't figure out how the jewelry stores of even very busy malls stay open! I rarely see people buying anything from them.

The business cycle really took its toll on Fiesta Mall. People tend to snap their wallets shut when they're out of work, or are otherwise scared of losing their jobs.

If the rent was dropped to like $100 mo. There would be plenty of stores filling those empty slots. More stores means more sales which would keep it alive for a bit longer. An end of an era.

I remember going to Aladdin's Castle by the food court when I was a kid. Fiesta Mall was the place to be back in the day.
