Electric Go Karts - BUILD AND DRIVE - Edison Motors EV Rodeo 2024

We participated in @EdisonMotors electric go kart challenge and this video highlights everything from the beginning of the build to competition day in Merritt BC.

Valleyview Secondary's metalwork program had a great experience at the Edison EV challenge on May 25th. The majority of the build was done in under a month and students were able to finish each of the kart courses they were presented with. There was a tractor pull, high speed obstacle course, an offroad challenge, a barrel race, and prizes for the most innovative design and build.

The challenges courses were tough and we know what we need to do to improve for next year in terms of steering geometry, electrical components, and machining different parts to improve upon our original plan. Our main drivers were Jack Smith and Kris Ellis but many other students from both the senior and junior metalwork classes were involved in the build process of this project.

We found out the morning of the competition that one of our students had just passed away. The drivers/builders were good friends with him and he also helped out during the initial stages of the build process.
