More Evidence Against Dark Matter? Was Einstein Wrong?

Dark Matter may not exist. The new theory, called modified Newtonian dynamics (MOND), was proposed in the 1980s by physicist Mordehai Milgrom to explain the anomalous behavior of galaxies. MOND posits that gravity behaves differently on large scales than it does on small scales, and that this can account for the gravitational effects attributed to dark matter.

The Berkeley researchers tested MOND using data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, a massive survey of over 100 million galaxies. They found that MOND could accurately predict the gravitational lensing effects of galaxies, which is one of the main lines of evidence for dark matter.

The findings of the Berkeley study have far-reaching implications for physics. If MOND is correct, it would mean that our understanding of gravity is incomplete and that we need to rewrite the laws of physics. It would also mean that dark matter does not exist, which would be a major blow to the prevailing cosmological model.
