Saudi Arabia has issued a warning to Pakistan over the presence of Pakistani beggars in the Kingdom. Riyadh has threatened to restrict the issuance of pilgrimage visas to Pakistani people. Some Pakistani people use pilgrimage visas to enter Saudi Arabia and beg for alms. About 90% of the beggars arrested in West Asian nations reportedly come from Pakistan. Islamabad is now in damage control mode to ensure than Riyadh doesn't act on its threat.

There is very little competition because these activities require a lack of sense of shame and thick skin. Very few people have that. This activity is the biggest foreign exchange earner for Pakistan. Pakistan should be proud of these people.
