Attorneys representing Alex Murdaugh shocked the Lowcountry when they announced a motion for a new trial for the convicted family killer, citing alleged jury tampering by the clerk of courts. Dick Harpootlian and Jim Griffin said Rebecca Hill, who read the guilty verdict in Murdaugh’s trial, allegedly pressured jurors to reach a verdict and even told them to disregard the disgraced lawyer’s testimony. The ghostwriter who helped Hill write her book, “Behind the Doors of Justice: The Murdaugh Murders,” spoke to the Law&Crime Network’s Angenette Levy about his dealings with the courthouse clerk.

What was this lady's thinking in writing a book about this? She's part of the court system.

Ah, so the guy who - by his own admission - put an immense amount of his own money and time in the book is defending the clerk... color me surprised!

So sad this woman's opportunistic money grab may cost justice for the mother and child that was so brutally murdered.

That AG will do everything in his power to make sure she's exonerated. This must be elevated to a federal investigation

If she was so ethical and by the book, she would not have had a closed door meeting with the "egg lady." I did not realize the appointed foreman was the brother of a deputy on scene the night Paul and Maggie were murdered.

I do not think we know how deep this goes!

The nerve of this lady. She knew better but was thinking only of herself. I hope she's held accountable, but I won't hold my

As an in-court clerk for 30+ years, it NEVER crossed my mind to give my opinion to any member of the jury. This woman needs to lose her job and go to jail!

Ghostwriter could just stay silent, but he chose to both bury the clerk and himself with the admission of risking a loss of 30k… people are imbeciles… 🤦‍♂️

No thief ever admits to stealing, no murderer ever accepts they killed, so even this clerk will never admit to the allegations. The ghost writer was not there so he should just keep off.

Court employees shouldn’t be allowed to write books until they retire and anyone with a case in SC should be allowed to have their case heard in other states due to all the corruption. She said in a interview she knew from the beginning she was gonna write a book the person she did a interview with was a guy named Rogers at the local media.

How did she get past the bailiff guarding the jurors? 🤷‍♀️

So it's not just the judges and prosecutors who think that they are above the law, it's the clerks too now?

There is a sickness in US courts, it's disturbing.

The letter she wrote to the ethics commission was very vague she made it sound like she was doing a historical book. If this is true she’s not a person who follows rules.

Was he guilty? Probably.
Did she screw things up? Definitely.

One must wonder how many cases have such jury tempering and no one ever find out about it. Especially that jurors are encouraged not to discuss the case even after the trial

"She's a rule follower"

... apparently only when she decides to be. Can't be a part time follower of the rules & still be deemed as having a high level of integrity. Breaking rules in a position like hers is a little more severe than most jobs... It is imperative for one to be of high integrity that cannot & will not be faultered on, when holding such an important position.

It makes no sense that the lawyers would make this kind of allegation and not be 100% absolutely sure it is true. If they were found to be lying and perjure themselves, they'd be disbarred and arrested too. The jurors who signed the affidavit would know that they would go to jail too. And what motivation would the jurors have to make lie about something like this? The lawyers said most jurors didn't want to talk to them until the book was released.

He is co-author not a ghost writer. She is in plenty trouble already. There's no need to misrepresent things.

With all the control Alec has in that county, why is it hard to believe that this is just more of him (through his lawyers) pushing people and manipulating them into doing what he wants?
