This has to be all Russian bots in the comments right? If anyone who has a grandparent or parent who is retired and relies on social security I think you should understand that it is the most valuable social safety net that we have. Without it, many elderly people would be below the poverty line and unable to take care of themselves. Hell, what do you plan to do when YOU retire? Or if you get too sick to work? Unless you were born into wealth most of us will rely on some sort of support and if it's not there, people will die without it if they don't have shelter, access to medical care, or the ability to buy groceries...

I have a 62 year old friend on Social Security Disability. She has heart disease, diabetes and COPD even though she hasn't smoked for decades. She's soon to have knee surgery. She uses a walker and has been on oxygen for 8 years. Is she supposed to work? Social Security isn't for vacations for her. It's for surviving day to day. Literally. And she's not alone.

My husband has worked his butt off landscaping. He’s 65 now, and he works as hard as he did when he was 30. He’s paid into SS and matched his own all that time. That money better be there for him. Trust me, clients don’t pay enough for lawn care for him to save up retirement, and he doesn’t have a cushy federal job that forces the taxpayers to pay it for him.
