A lot of others have pointed out that the speed of sound in air is about 343 meters per second, but another fun fact is that in water, the speed of sound is actually w a y faster at 1500 meters per second!

I think if it was a CHASE (the people actually went through the escapes) then the dolphin one should've had dispensers to get rid of the water, and the ice boat one could've used awkward piston placements so the ice would move up and down making a really hard-to-use track. Of course there would have to be a switch in the middle of the escape, which could be a calibrated sculk sensor made so when you equip armor it activates. The good part about the dispensers is the fact that they can re-dispense the water. I'm not really sure how you could reset the ice boat track, as I'm not a full-on redstoner, but I'm sure a bit of research could help.

You can nerd-pole with unstained glass panes and unless they have a texture pack messing it up, it'll be completely invisible except for a 1-pixel thick layer at the very top and very bottom of the whole pillar
