Grammy Award Winner: Best Americana Album 2022

A bit of a twist in their normal songwriting process: Louie gave Dave just the poetry (with no musical seed) and Dave had a melody waiting, so they crafted and wove what they had together. Conrad: Those guys are great writers. That's all there is to it. Louie: We were walking out of the studio one day and I said, "Hey Dave, I have an idea. What if we wrote an original song for this record?" He looked at me and said: "Write an original cover?" He got me on that one. My brother. A man of few words. David: The lyric is beautiful, and it tells a great story. Louie is an amazing writer. Steve: I was so happy Dave and Louie came up with it. It kinda put everything into perspective, theme-wise. Yeah, this is us – Native Sons.

~~~~~
There are concrete rivers flowing
from the mountains to the sea
towers that almost touch the sky
up all around me
There’s music playing on the radio
from a house there down the street
singing “Take me in your arms again
I miss you don’t you see.”
No matter where I lay my head
no matter how far I've run
I dream about the day you’ll take me back
I’m your native son
I was a fool to run away
and forget where I’d come from
I think about the day you’ll take me back
I’m your native son
Los Lobos definitely deserves to be inducted into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
I must have listened to this song 100 times, if not more. Every single note is right where it's supposed to be. I don't know what Los Lobos thinks about this song, but in my opinion, it's at the top of their catalogue.
You know how life gets in the way of things? Well the years took me away from this band. When I went on my own to college I took Los Lobos with me. ...life went on and I forgot them. I found them again! There is deep soul in their music and it is needed in this world. Love to all off you brothers and sisters ❤ 💕!!
The wolves KILLED it at the OC fair. The trifecta of Los Lobos, the Blasters and X is a special kind of treat that comes around only once in a few years. There is nothing like it cuz they're all LA homies since the 70's. They also will step in on musician duties for each other. Love these bands!
My favorite concert I've ever attended was a show at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles in the 1990's. It was a Carlos Santana show and Los Lobos opened for him. I never felt so proud to be a Mexican American. Like myself, Los Lobos just keep rocking on. Thank you!
Hands down, one of the best live bands I've ever seen. The first time I saw Los Lobos was on the 1996 Furthur Fest. All I knew from them was their cover of "La Bamba" and "Kiko and the Lavender Moon". They absolutely blew me away. They were so good that I was kind of bored the rest of the day. I've seen them 5 more times since then and was equally impressed each time. I got tickets to see them in July with Tedeschi Trucks Band and I can't wait!
