Bestselling Author Jonny Bowden on Having ADHD & Memory Issues

You’ve probably heard of the downsides of ADHD/ADD—short attention span, distractibility, disorganization, procrastination, impulsivity, and poor judgment. The list of symptoms can make it seem like anyone with this condition would have a difficult time being successful at work, in relationships, or in sports. But that is not always the case. Some people who are high achievers may have a form of the condition known as “high-functioning ADHD/ADD,” and they may not know they have it.

Bestselling author and nutrition specialist @DrJonnyBowden is a good example. A real go-getter, Bowden studied at Julliard, earned a music degree at NYU, and got a Master’s degree in psychology. After a downward spiral, he found his way out of addiction, earned a Ph.D. in holistic nutrition, and became one of the nation’s most popular nutrition, health, and wellness experts with over a dozen books to his name. When this high achiever visited Amen Clinics for an episode of Scan My Brain, he wanted to know if getting a brain SPECT scan could offer clues to how he could improve his “ADD-like brain that makes it very hard to concentrate.”

I love watching these videos and find them so insightful. I’m starting to work with clients and believe there is so much we can do to improve our health. If I had the money I would have my brain scanned.

Brave for Dr. Jonny to agree to do this. Interesting interview! Expensive procedure for most of us though.

I have watched a lot of these videos and read “You Happier” and I have a question. Would standing upside down daily increase blood flow to “sleepy” areas of the brain? Would it make a difference at all? 😂

Im 25 and i think i had dementia because i didnt eat right (vegan) with some b12 supplements. I could not focus anymore (no short term memory) at all and felt like i didnt remember anything from university. Had really dark circles around my eyes which got worse over time and problems with joint health in my spine. It was absolutely miserable. And i dont drink smoke or take drugs at all (last time i had alcohol was when i ate a desert which i didnt know that it had alcohol) and only drink water and tea. Now i eat normaly again take fish oil supplements, vit d, collagen, vit c, glycine before sleep and also tried 5 htp, lions mane and generally a lot of supplements. I feel a lot better now before my diet change i couldnt even feel my body anymore and my skin was very pale and see through. I nearly killed myself had i continued i would have been dead in two years for shure.
