I can actually see the argument, would mick had developed better if he had a teammate that pushed him more in his rookie year? Its possible

No disrespect to Mick, but Sounds like bs tbh

If Mick was that good Mercedes would have pushed the Williams move by now

Mick was the only actual F1 driver in that car for a whole season... no one to correct obvious mistakes and easy to fix errors from an experienced drivers perspective.
He dumpstered Mazespin, hard. And at the same time he burned overdriving into his style. So, yeah, the fact he didn't have a teammate definitely ruined a potentially good driver.

Nice to see David defending his family though unsure about this

I could see it from a development angle. If you have to repair a car every weekend, that will seriously cut in to the R&D budget. But honestly, no I don't think it mattered a lot.

Really doubt that Mazepin had that kind of influence, like sure he is bad, but Mick really showed after Mazepin was gone that he wasn't all that good either.

Haas didn’t have a simulator at that time.

Mick was a reserve driver for Ferrari in that same year, so had regular access to the Ferrari simulator over the year, whereas Mazepin didn’t have this benefit.

Mazepin also had a cracked / flawed chassis.

Mazepin’s Dad argued with Haas over this (who believed there was nothing wrong). Eventually Haas agreed to swap the chassis over with Mick. In Mick’s first high speed run with the flawed chassis, he spun and had such a heavy impact - the chassis was completely destroyed.

It’s Herbie from Rudolf The Red Nosed Reindeer. “Herbie doesn’t like to make toys!”

Agreed, Mick had no experienced driver to learn from in a team that treats young drivers like a fock smashed door and you're not exactly wanting to learn anything from Mazepin of all people

i have said it before and i will say it again, the best sports person in that family is not Mick or David, its Gina Schumacher and also she can actually win things, unlike Mick and David. Gina is a professional reining/western pleasure rider and has represented Germany in that sport at euro and world level and has won the two biggest reining/western pleasure prize's in the US, which are both worth over a million dollars.

Maybe a tiny fraction because he had literally no one to battle for a year which showed in the first couple of races in 2022. But the blame for his performance lies with himself, the terrible cars he had to drive and mainly the overall horrible team he was driving for including horrendous management that basically threw him under the bus.

Haas has seemingly forgotten how to operate an F1 team. Every 'update' makes the car slower somehow, the pitstops are terrible and the media representation of Gunther is a joke - and that's just from the outside. I think there needs to be change in many different postions at Haas but starting with Gunther himself.

I'd like to think if Mick signed for Alfa Romeo instead of Haas he still would have a seat.

Naah. Could he be the cause for stunted growth? Maybe. Is he at fault? No. If anyone, that's on Gunther and HAAS for the signing.

Mick has a lot to prove still, people act like he’s amazing but he’s not yet. Maybe in a few years if he gets lucky with series and team placement and whatnot, but as of right now he’s really nothing special. Mazepin sucked but he didn’t suck enough to pull mick in with him, sorry not sorry.

Nicolas Latifi was bad, but that didn't stop Albon from ragging the living daylights out of the Williams

This is entirely BS. Blame Haas if anyone, Ralf. imo the way Gunther undermined his confidence stunted his development more than a weak teammate.

Ralf's side of the family is just trying really hard to stay relevant for whatever reason, Mick himself said in an interview that he and the team tried to treat the 2022 Haas like the 2021 Haas in setup which is why he struggled early on. But that kind of mistake is to be expected with a joke of a team like Haas. Williams is just rejecting Mick for Logans money and hes about to have a nice drive in an Alpine that has hopefully more reliability in WEC than they do in F1. At least thats what I hope for. (Also Mick will struggle to ever see F1 again because there is just no sponsor money coming from Germany at all, takes some sort of miracle at this point)

I mean the whole situation likely stunted Mick’s growth to some point. I think because the 2021 car was so shit, Mick was constantly pushing, leading to him overdrive often and crash. It took until over halfway through the 2022 season before he seemed to start to settle in, but I think it was a little too late. Couple that with his uncle causing drama and the lapse of judgement crash at Suzuka, it didn’t seem likely he would return to the team in 2023.

Yes because mick didn't have anyone to train him in the Haas car until Kmag but it was too late at that point.

And Haas was catering the car to mazespin

Honestly, this is actually quite true, Schumacher didn't have a teammate to push him in his rookie year for his skills to develop...
