AC Fuel Pump 'Type E' Rebuild and How it Works

This mechanical diagram fuel pump is used on Bedford 300 and 214 petrol.
Video shows rebuild, and an explanation of how these things work.

Working pressure 1.5 to 2.5 Ib./sq. in.
Flow minimum in 60 seconds at 1000rpm is 1.06 Imp. pints (24 U.S. gal.)

Is the one-way valve one on the inlet side relieving the pump from overflodding the cab

Is there a way we can clean it with out taking it all off. Car i purchased has old gas and has been sitting for two years

Hi! 1958 AMC Rambler Super here, (pt.22) I was looking at the two old fuel pumps I have for the rambler, I'm not sure if they work, I wasn't the owner of the car when it was all assembled and driving. What are some ways to check and see if the pump is working while it's disconnected from the car? I suppose I could take it apart, but if I do I geuss I might be wrecking the seals ect and I'm hesitant I do that.
