I actually think you do a fantastic job at avoiding spoilers. Your reverence for literature is so beautiful to me.

“And there’s someone named John in the book” is a spoiler according to some people, and honestly? If they’re that fragile about “spoilers”, they probably shouldn’t be on the Internet until they’ve consumed the media in question. You do a great job with your reviews, Willow, I’ve really enjoyed the books you’ve recommended and never feel like anything has been spoiled.

You explained the book perfectly without spoiling anything. Most horror has a twist so it is not a spoiler in my books.

“It’s good…I promise…eventually” 😂
I don’t read a lot of horror, but I admit I am curious to see what this one is all about after this review!

I've never felt you spoiled anything by just revealing there is a twist. I agree with the comment below regarding your reverence for literature but not only that, I feel respected when you do a review. You have great reverence for the reader the way a good author does. That is an art in itself. Thank you, Willow. 💜🙏💜

Don't be sorry. You can't please everyone. Always be true to your craft, and you will come out happy and awesome. Just like you are😊

I love how you review books, it made me want to read already some books that I would never have picked on my own. I think you're the only booktuber that made me actually read a book they were reviewing, so it seems to me that you are indeed doing a very good job 😊

My library system ordered some copies so I placed a hold for it. This will be the first book of his that I read. The movie with the same title was underneath the book so I requested that too, because you said it's very good :)

Yes, everyone has their own metric for what a spoiler is, but to reveal that a book in a genre that VERY often has twists, has a twist, is not a spoiler and I genuinely think it's unreasonable to say that it is.

I picked this up thanks to this review. Part 2 was my favourite.

I haven't read this book and I don't read much horror but you do make it sound interesting. I liked your discussion at the end about how it's hard sometimes to trust in the author to deliver when the evidence so far is that it's nothing special. I'm kind of with you that such a book can still be pretty good overall, but it still feels like a real design flaw.

Also, I think you're good about spoilers, you never give away anything critical. Once in a while there's a book where I don't want anything revealed at all, but in that case I hold off on watch the YouTube videos until I've read it :)

It's funny. The exact issue you have with this book happened for me with a Japanese movie I saw a little while ago called One Cut of the Dead. For most of the first half of the film I was thinking, "this is terrible!" At one point, I almost turned it off, because something particularly annoying was happening. The only reason I didn't was because of the fact that it was all filmed in one continuous, uncut shot, and I like that sort of thing. Then at the halfway point, there is a twist, and suddenly I realized this film was brilliant, and the rest of it was an absolute joy to watch! I highly recommend it, but like the book you are reviewing, it is a tough sell to convince someone to carry on without mentioning a twist. Especially if it is viewed on TV, where the temptation to switch it off during the first half would be more than understandable.

You nailed that review, I was struggling to review this one and you’ve just summed up my feelings exactly!

I almost dropped this book after finishing act one and starting act 2. I was really, really close. I’m glad I didn’t, and I agree with everything you said.

I DNF’d this…I got over halfway and just couldn’t stand the main character. I’m thinking I may have to give it a second chance after seeing your review!

have you read any other Nesbø books? For me, his stories are quick cosy easy reads. They usually have some suspense, some risks, but they have a place in my heart if I'm in a slump. I never read his books in order, I just grab one when I find one on sale, and it has a cool cover. I like Nordic writers and vast settings with creepy undertones.

That would be a wonderful book cover quote. I hope they do it
