Air Combat was released in Japan on June 30, 1995, as Ace Combat. It was released in North America on September 9 as a launch title for the console, and in Europe by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe on October 13. On August 9, 1996, it was re-released in Japan under Sony's The Best budget title range. A version for Japanese mobile phones was released on August 25, 2005, for the EZweb content provider.

Man, I got so good at this game back in the day. I would sit upside down and also fly the planes inverted through the level… on hard hahaha

Hey Cipher, would it be alright if I used some of this footage in an analysis video I'm working on for Air Combat? It's really good quality and I would make sure to credit you at the end. It's perfectly fine if you'd rather I leave it alone, but I'm hoping to collect some good AC footage as it would make my life easier on the editing side of things.

Is it true that you unlock stage select for beating the game on hard? Does beating it on any other difficukty unlock this?

I've spent HOURS fighting the final boss. As far as I can tell, he can just kill you whenever he wants. If you take it safe, you don't have enough time to win. If you play aggressively, he shreds you in seconds with his machine guns. There has to be something I'm missing, right?
