Pedal Mates HALLOWEEN: Spooky sounds with Data Corrupter, Astral Destiny and Replicator Tape Echo

Halloween in Australia may not be as huge a thing as it is in other parts of the world, but we'll cop any excuse to try out some of the weirder guitar effects pedals on our shelves and make some suitably spooky sounds! 👻👽💀

For this special episode of Pedal Mates, we're summoning the Earthquaker Devices Data Corrupter and Astral Destiny, as well as the stunning T-Rex Replicator tape echo.

As soon as we turned the Astral Destiny on, we felt the dark spirits awaken within. Stunned by their presence, we pushed on and fell in love with AD's beautiful modulated shimmer reverb. If you want to ~transcend~ to the astral plane, look no further.

The Data Corrupter we approached with a warranted apprehension, knowing the demons lurking within. We were right to be cautious. That pedal is a monster and it takes some wrangling. With some tweaking and some time, we tamed it (kind of) and found a glorious high out of harnessing its fury. Huge, thick and fuzzy synth tones, wobbly shrieks and wild lead sounds are there for those brave enough.

The star of the show of course, is the T-Rex Replicator - a real-life genuine tape echo! Real tape is something to behold, the character of the saturation and slight pitch wobble, reminiscent of ghosts in the machine, is truly wonderful.
