Health care is one of the most common questions, so I decided to make this video to answer all your questions about the health care system GESY, also called NHS (National health service).

Wrong video for this question probably, but I’ve heard you say you’re non-dom. Do you need to be domiciled in another country then? And won’t you need to pay taxes there?

If you spend 60 days in CY, have your own company, you become tax resident you pay gesy 2.65%. Its clear.

But what happens if next year you dont spend 60 days in CY and consequently you wont become tax resident and so you dont have to pay 2, 65% gesy. How do you keep health insurance? Can you pay gesy voluntarily?

Or is it still paid from salary (from your own company)

Sadly, the hospitals is one of the few things that is quite terrible. I've been to several of them and seen multiple doctors and 1/4 was acceptable. Even the private hospitals are quite dirty and third world standard in terms of professionalism and tests available. The booking is the worst, they never call you back. I went to Portugal and Thailand and got 10x better care.

It's definitely not as bad as Bali though 😂

Numbeo lists Cyprus' new public health system as 73rd out of 98 countries. Cypriot doctors are not very good, irrespective of where they've studied. It has to do with their middle-eastern mentality of "not really caring".
