What is Clinical Supervision Like? Therapist Internship (Question from Viewer) LMFT LPCC LCSW

#clinicalsupervision #supervision What is Clinical Supervision Like? Are you interested in becoming a licensed marriage and family therapist, licensed clinical social worker or licensed professional clinical counselor? Wondering how Supervision works?

This video gives you an overview of how your Supervisor can know (see) your skill level and assess whether or not you are growing in your professional skill.

Your Supervisor may have you sit in session with him or her.
Your Supervisor may sit in with you.
Your Supervisor may have you conduct sessions in a room with a camera and microphone.
Your Supervisor (and perhaps other Associates /Interns) may watch and listen from a two way mirror.

All clients will know and sign a consent ahead of time.

You will discuss your strengths and areas in need of improvement during weekly Supervision sessions.

It's scary and intimidating but it's such a great opportunity to increase your clinical skills. Your internship (associateship) should help you lay a solid foundation for your future career, your future client's success... and the trajectory of their success in years and generations to come.

Thank you for watching!

This is a very real, honest, and open explanation of multiple things that many of us are wondering. Way too few views and way too few comments. Thank you for uploading this. I'm a graduate school student and I'm looking for information like this to aid me.

This might sound like a silly question, but are the 3000 hours required for the LCSW paid or unpaid..?

Hi Melinda,  I was wondering if I have abandonment issues because I had a therapist that I kind of ran away from. Lol... I think transference played a big part in this. I was seeing her once a week then we went to 2 times a week and then she went on vacation and we didn't get back together for another week in a 1/2 after that and then she had to cancel A-day, I had to cancel a day and the last time that she had to cancel on the day that we were supposed to get together, I couldn't handle it and I did not like the feeling of "missing" her if you know what I mean. I like her very much but Valera, the company,   Abruptly gave me a new therapist and I wasn't able to talk to my old therapist first.

And the other thing is my new therapist is younger than my other therapist, who is also very young but this new therapist doesn't know much about transference . She's fresh out of school and very unguarded as to where my other therapist strongly upholds boundries. So how do you deal with having a new therapist that's fresh out of school? I feel like a Guinea pig. How do I deal with this and what do I do?

Hope you can help. I would appreciate it.
