Reg Dwight aka Elton John with The Tramps - Ma Belle Amie

This is one of the hardest to find in its original vinyl form cover record that Elton John appeared on.

It contains four tracks featuring Elton on lead vocals, none of which appeared on The Reg Dwight Piano Goes Pop CD.

Unlike a lot of the cover records which were recorded with no name, this was credited as being by " The Tramps ".

The track featured here is called Ma Belle Amie, and is a first on YouTube.

Heaven... as just as I can remember, it played in a soap opera TV here in Brazil in early 70's...

This is fun. Never the biggest Elton fan though some I love. This is one..what can I say, he's a natural.

I assume that the Tee Set version was the original. EJ doesn't quite have the vocal intonations that made the original, with Peter Tetteroo's vocals, what it was, but it's pretty close otherwise. Nice to hear what EJ was up to in '69-'70; he also did the piano licks on "He ain't heavy; he's my brother."

Might be Elton John, but this version cannot stand in the shadow of the original from the Dutch band, the Tee Set. The Tee Set version hit the European, US and UK charts. And made Elton record this cover for a cheap compilation album with more covers from hitsongs by other artists.
