My paintball gun is $1000 but it doesn't shoot any "harder" than the cheap ones. Paintball guns are generally restricted to a maximum speed of 250-300 feet per second. Most are adjustable to maintain safe velocity. They still leave a pretty good welt. More expensive paintball guns generally buys you faster rate of fire, electronic firing modes, ability to handle brittle paint without breaking balls in the gun, and air efficiency so you can get more shots per tank.

As a paintballer, he made some good gun choices. Though once you pass the 100 dollar mark it doesn’t necessarily mean the marker is more powerful. For example the 400 dollar marker which is the Mini GS made by a company named Empire, the FPS (feet per second) is adjustable making it more powerful or less powerful by changing the velocity.
