Dr. Phil films as ICE targets migrants in Chicago

Dr. Phil McGraw embedded with US immigration enforcement officers during deportation raids on Sunday — quizzing a convicted child sex offender who smugly tried to brush off being in the country illegally.

The TV host joined border czar Tom Homan in Chicago Sunday night when they took into custody Sam Seda, a Thai national who openly admitted he was not a citizen.

“We’ve got an illegal alien convicted of sex crimes involving children and he’s walking the streets of Chicago.”

I am Thai. I can say Thai people don't have name like that Seda Soma is a Cambodian name. He is a refugee Khmen, just was born in refugee camp, Thailand before move to USA. Don't misunderstand he is Thai.

Thai names are mostly use and mix with Thai, Pali and Sansakrit both of First name and Surname.

Normally, nationality is determined by bloodline (Rule of Blood/Jus Sanguinis). Only a few countries grant nationality based on birthplace (Rule of Land/Jus Soli), one of which is the United States. However, it seems even they are hesitant to fully apply this rule anymore. For example, someone born in Thailand doesn’t automatically receive Thai nationality because Thailand follows the Rule of Blood. Thailand is merely a transit point, a place where people give birth before moving to the U.S. or other countries. Most people still identify their lineage based on their parents.

The person's accent during the interview clearly suggests that their parents taught them Khmer. They might even be claiming they were born in Thailand just to push the burden onto Thailand. Especially now, as Cambodian migrants there are stirring up issues to create problems with Thailand.
