The reason the bus cuts upwards in the back is for sudden hills, it's more of a problem in a state that's all hills and valleys like Connecticut or Rhode Island

When I was in middle school back in 2005, I rode on a 1991 Thomas. That bus was definitely on its way out considering how many times it broke down. They replaced them with newer Thomas/Freightliner buses that lasted right until I graduated from high school in 2011.

At our school we have a bus from the early 90s and it was the second oldest bus the oldest was from 1989

Oh man, When I drove school buses, the oldest buses we had were 1977 Ford Thomas' . and our newest bus was a 1988 S1700 Blue Bird, which was still 7 years old at the time. But our maintenance crew was awesome, and that 1977 Ford drove just as good as a newer bus. And we kept all our buses clean, inside and out. So even the old buses looked and smelled good.
Cool videos! Nice to see the old vs new comparison. They really don't change much over the years. Just the newer ones have more plastic and sound dampening... and a/c.

I have always wondered why most ICCE busses have their exhaust pipe poking out though the rear bumper and only a few below it. (Dependent on the motor.)

The difference on the rear of the busses it that the 2019 has a camera as u can see and the 2009 doesn’t .

i know that buses who has that underneath angle on the back (sometimes front aswell) is to usually prevent it from hitting the pavement when either driving or being towed

Oldest bus we have will be a 2015 T3FE, our newest is a 2022 Vision Gas, but currently, our actual oldest that’s getting retired this year is a 2011 Bluebird Vision shorty.
