*IT IS WORTH EVERY MINUTE!*
I finally saw this movie yesterday. At the beginning I was sceptical about the length of 3 hrs (!). Moreover, when I was watching the trailer for the first time, it wasn't convincing to me at all. To me, it was just odd and somehow confusing since it does not reveal much of the story. The plot, saying the drama film is about a man who's falling in love with a woman, whose father does not approve of him, does not live up to that masterpiece of work - not even nearly. It's more about the phases of his life with all the sufferings the painter went through, leading to a struggle since he is talented, but somehow he can't let go of the past. Everything he experiences will be eventually linked up bit by bit. Of course there are also some minor weaknesses, but I think these don't affect the film negatively. I'd definitely recommend you to watch it!

Saw this today at the Angelica movie theatre in NYC.  It is three hours long, but the story was very engaging and the time went quickly.   This is what cinema should be...great storytelling, great script, great actors and visually engaging.  I for one would nominate this film for an Oscar.  Even though the film was in German with English subtitles I hardly noticed that the film was in German.

This movie is so beautiful. I usually don't have patience for slow-paced movies, particularly the longer ones. But 'Never Look Away' didn't feel 3 hours long movie, at all. I was fully immersed in the subtle and calming background music and thoroughly enjoyed the sublime acting. I finished watching it an hour ago and I already want to watch it again, it isn't leaving my mind/ memory.

The actor Tom Schilling is such an underrated talent. The film industry merely gave him roles in some Nazi movies so far, but he's much more than that. Fortunately he got the chance by starring this multifaceted role as painter.

This is an amazing movie. Florian is a great story-teller. I was hooked from the first scene to end credits.

And if it wasn't for Netflix, I don't think I would have been into foreign movies. Netflix has really opened my eyes to global talent and I'm going to try and watch the foreign film masterpieces that I have missed throughout the years. Also - I can't wait until Dark 2!

I just heard a story on the mixed reception the film has had among some reviewers and Germans. However, I will judge for myself. His "Other People's Lives" was superb and this film has some of Germany's best actors in its lead roles.
