that looks like a nice knife, considering it on amazon right now, so i found this video, its great real informative. shows the knife up close and what it can or cant do, the sheathe looks real nice and that wicked point is undisputable.

I am of the opinion that it's better to have any type of knife on you in all situations, even in Church. I read a story years ago about a man defending himself from a cougar. He somehow managed to pull out the only knife he had, a Victorinox (no mention of the model), open it, and proceed to stab the cougar multiple times, all the while it was literally ripping him to shreads, and the authorities found the cougar dead nearby. Miraculously the man survived the attack.
I am an avid cyclist and I even carry an easily deploy folder, clipped to my jersey pocket for that just in case situation. It has fended off dogs on two different occasions, one dog even has a scar across its nose.

My own daily knife carrying precedes NCIS by decades, but “Gibb’s Rule #9” is nice shorthand. Really like the look of this blade.

This would make a nice "Jagdnicker" which is a German hunting knife used to put a wounded animal out of its misery. I think that is where the knife would shine in a non-defense role. I'm not sure I have a need for it but it is one slick looking knife and it looks extremely functional. Great review.

I carry the street scalpel 2, thinking about the street spike though.

Pretty uncommon to EDC more than one belt knife, at least for me. The knife I am carrying must have multiple functionality in multiple grip styles. My go to every day EDC is the C.U.T 4.0. This knife has excellent performance from Bushcraft to skinning game. Fantastic knife from TOPs. I can see this knife being reviewed as a boot carry candidate. You were correct in identifying it's true nature, it's a shank.

Own the blade. The edge out of the box is not fantastic. But even someone who is far from an expert sharpener can touch it up (me with a worksharp). Once done it will slice into steak readily enough. But it is not a slasher. I don't imagine it would fare too well on a pork man test. But as you identify that is not its role. It is a high adrenaline gross motor skill option. And given that most of us have not been placed in that situation it is all thought experiment. Given that it is a pry bar turned into a shiv it will absolutely not fail. Hammer or ice pick grip once your hand locks around it, it's not going anywhere. The end of the handle is, well, unique would be a fare word. I doesn't add to the functionality of the knife, but once in hand it doesn't really detract. Though an argument could be made that a more conventional butt would give a better hammer option. The sheath locks the knife in tight which is always a good thing. Withdrawal though? So little of the handle presents. From a worse case scenario adrenaline dump perspective where you imagine yourself performing at your worst, not your best, the inability to wrap a full grip for withdrawal is for me a big downside. Perhaps a lanyard could help with this, though the gap would not be bridged entirely. So when moments count you lose time. I found removal of the clip and the attachment of an ulti clip allowed for deep pocket carry. Though this did require cutting a small hole in the pocket, lol. From a legal perspective? Again worst case scenario, it screams that it is a death dealer. Depending on where you live this is something to take into consideration. I like this knife a lot. And God forbid if I am placed in a worst day of my life situation I would welcome it. Though when I look at a blade like the the enuff 2, I can't help but think that, while not as strong, it presents full grip from sheath, is a good piercer, is more utilitarian in appearance, and has greater slashing capabilities.

Great informative video again. One can only imagine how many snowflakes melted down whilst watching it. Keep up the good work. 👍🏼

I've seen this video a few times and every time I get anxious because that same thing happened to me when I was younger. And that's one of the main reasons I have always carried a blade. I really want one of these though.

In my neighborhood you should actually carry about a dozen of these if you're going for a walk at night 😅

I like how you mentioned and carrying a knife for more than just defense against human threats. I have two small dogs and I don’t always want to or need to carry a pistol in the event. They were attacked a piercing knife could get a dog off of them safely.

Another blade - quite a budget one - Cold Steel Roach Belly ...
Pretty sturdy little knife ...
And very pointy ...
Definitelly, that TOPS blade is very strong - but CS Roach Belly is strong enough I guess ...
