I think the lack of full size HDMI is a licensing issue. Apparently the creator would have to pay for every HDMI port sold for some reason.

The hum sounds like it's from increased power usage. You will also see that happen with light mods or heavily modded GBA's. There is a mod kit that will fix it.

But i do have to say
i have an almost exact switch like experience playing gba already, with my analogue pocket

I got this kit after hearing about it from the intec consolizer video. I didnt come across the audio issue, it might be the particular gba model or tv.
Although i do have some gripes.
-Like the video says, there is alot of trimming. I had to completely remove the plastic in the battery compartment for it to squeeze together, but even then the screws wouldnt go all the way flush.
-I dont trust the durability of the usb dock connection. Over time it will inevitably wear out and the tv connection will get cut out
-I have bad experiences with micro hdmi, and just like the video, why the micro hdmi?
-triggers me to see that the back of the gba doesnt even touch the back of the dock; its floating only supported by the usb c
I still think this is the best “consolizer” kit currently available. The soldering is actually not bad, and im still a novice. The hard part is the tedious trimming.

I bought an IPS screen 2 years ago which was about 20€/$ cheaper than that one. The video and audio comes out through the GBA Link port, and it includes a cable to connect to the RCA plugs on the TV. The link port still works correctly when connected to another GBA or to the Gamecube with the link cable.

I genuinely dont understand what makes the Switch a "hybrid" rather then just a handheld with video out (many handhelds before it had video out like the sega nomad and PSP). All docking mode does it allow you to increase the resolution (while not increasing clock speeds on the GPU, CPU, or ram) and it plays exactly like a low end handheld with video out. Yet somehow the Steam Deck does nearly the same thing (with more features like overclocking and increasing the power wattage) yet few call it a hybrid (also using a single joycon as a controller is extremely uncomfortable).

I seen this mod a month ago or so, it is cool but I still think playing mobile is the way to go. I've never wanted to plah GBA on my 65 inch OLED before or my 20 inch woooden tube crt in the past 😅. I like the console idea but I prefer turning console gaming mobile like PSX rather then mobile gaming console. 😂
