Balboa 101: Single time basic and delayed time basic (AKA down hold and up hold basic)

Показать описание
Here is a quick recap of the two basic rhythms most commonly used in balboa. The single time basis and the delayed time basic.

Other schools also call these the down hold basic (single time) and up hold basic (delayed). We Just try not to use these names because it suggests to students that they need to down or up when they don't need to.

If you like to see things written out, here is our notation on the steps.

Step = "+"
Hold = "-"

Single time basic
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
+ + + - + + + -

Delayed time basic
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

+ + - + + + - +

Does single time also imply that there is double, triple, etc time? Or half, quarter, etc time...
