Thanks for your tutorial. I have been looking for a tutorial that explains some whys as well as the hows. Most tutorial cover Audacity explain just how to fix videos just by saying do this and do that, but don't explain the options. Your demonstration of head room and it changes when DC offset is used was excellent.

another way (more suitable for realtime) is to use High pass filter. Lower the frequency, more it is attenuated, therefor DC=0Hz is completely removed

Yes you're right, but it is highly dependent on what filter do you use.

LOL xD 1Hz cutoff?!?! most of the sound you got is the rounding noise from the filter. with 32bit filter you can't go lower than 100Hz and even with 64bit precise filter around 10Hz the rounding noise gets audible.
