The Difference Between Tera and Other MMOs (Combat...Mostly)

What's up players? I'm just explaining the difference I find in Tera, as opposed to most of the other MMOs I've played. And I'm mostly just talking about the combat in this video.

It's probably important to note which MMOs I have played, so you know what I'm comparing Tera to:
World of Warcraft
DC Universe Online
Flyff
Guild Wars 1

I've never played a P2P game before. But i tried TERA during the Close Beta on a friends computer and it was one of the most thrilling game experiences i had in years. And I'm pretty much a hardcore gamer so that's totally nothing I'd say if it wasn't true.
I already pre-orderd the game and can't wait for the launch, I am really excited!

Open beta is 20th to 22nd, everyone should at least try it. It's a breath of fresh air and there is no MMO close to it with the combat system.

Tera seems interesting, a lot of MMO's had tried to add some action to their combat systems.. It usually doesn't work, which is the main depressing thing about those MMO's.

This video was interesting and non biased, but I still feel that Guild Wars 2 suits my personal gaming preference more, I will have an eye open (like before) on Tera, but thanks for showing your PPOV.

In short terms, GW2 will be an awesome game because the experience they want to make is that the player is actually part of the story. And the skill system (with the armor customizations) is really interesting and allows a lot of customization and to say "This is my way of playing this character". Basically, it's that. I can't talk too much also because i havent played it yet, but that is some things that GW 1 and 2 shares.

Yet, This thing of dodging is AWESOME, all MMOs should have it.

Having played the Tera beta i cant agree with you more, the combat system is fluid and it makes the gameplay substantially more enjoyable than that of another mmo. Though it does still end up being rotation based(whether they want to admit it or not). Prime example would be when I levelled a sorcerer, open with magma bomb into ice needle for slow into blast ball, when its close drop flame pillar and glacial retreat back. The combat nicely covers fact the quest system is standard mmo quests though

Yeah, that's fair. The P2P aspect turns a lot of people off. Which is understandable! Since people would rather spend their money else where.

There are so called "Chrono Scrolls" in the game. People can buy them on the homepage for the regular price a game card would cost. But instead of your account getting another month of playing time added you get one of those Scrolls as an ingame items. Then you can trade this items with other players.

Hey Collective, did you played Aion? Tera is identical on most of time, but at combat and the graphics he´s really good.

i just started playing this game yesterday, 2/8/13. Right away, it looks prettier than any other mmo i'v played, but the control is going to take some getting used to.

Guild Wars 2 is going the route of a hybrid of Action and Hotkey MMO's. Guildwars has also made a signifignt number of improvments upon the idea of MMO's. They demolished the "Holy Trinity' of classes of Tank, Healer and Dps. Every Class can do everything.Guild Wars 2 is also not pay per month, you pay when you buy the game and thats it.

C9 is one that's similar and f2p, but Tera is an amazing game.
