The rattling shroud was our issue! I've temporarily fixed it by shoving a little cardboard shim underneath just one of the contact points and will look for something a bit more permanent. Thank you!

Thanks for making this video! My AC was shaking violently this morning after a snowy night. I saw your video and quickly went out to clear the ice from the bolts. Problem solved!

So is this an example of a normal sounding A/C? I HATE the drone sound on mine but I don’t know if it’s normal or not. For some reason it is next to my bedroom. Can those units be moved?

What sound are you talking about with the scrolls? Do you have an example? What does it sound like?

I recently mowing the lawn of a customer and found that the plastic shroud had disintegrated and that most of the pieces were laying inside the condenser unit, the piece that attached to the top of the unit was still intacted. I checked to see about getting a replacement one. No such luck, the unit was an older one. The AC service owner told me that he had seen people use chicken wire. I took zip ties and attached the chicken wire to the piece that was still whole and cut the wire to fit, bending the excess under the piece and then reattached it to the top of the unit.

You didn't EXPLAIN why scrolls make a loud noise when starting up.

For some reason, with the AC unit my family has is on heat mode, the thick wiring going into the walls and ceilings throughout to the utility closet will make the walls and ceiling vibrate with a loud buzz and humming sound whenever the heating system is warming down the apartment. Also sorry for my awful grammar.

Any idea how to stop neighbors stupid condenser its below the bedroom wall i'm upstairs and the stupid thing resonates in the walls its so annoying. The compressor in it is so loud it can be easily heard when all 4 units are running at the same time. It says on the unit it was made in 2006

I checked the screws on my unit All is tigh.
But i did place a gallon jug of water on it and it stopped making noise.
Might unscrew front cover and see if it stops

I just had a new Trane XR 14 HVAC installed and I noticed that during startup the condenser makes a buzzing noise for about a minute. Sounds like it's coming from the compressor. Once it runs for a minute or two the noise goes way. I was told by the installation tech that it is normal. If that normal?

Am I the only one that likes this sound? I think it helps me sleep, it's good "white noise". :p

Fan blade imbalance. I glued a big rock to my top shroud. It's called an Inertial Vibration Dampener. Quieted right down.
