FIX: 'Unable to Sync' Steam Cloud Error Message when Launching a Game

Getting "Unable to Sync" error message when launching a game on Steam. This video guide features a few easy solutions that can fix the issue.

Message shown: "Unable to Sync, Warning - Steam was unable to sync your [game name] saves with the Steam Cloud. If you play now, you may not have previous game progress and you may permanenty lose it." [Play Anyway] [Cancel] buttons.

To prevent any progression loss to your game and your recent local save, you want to make sure that local and cloud saves on Steam servers are in sync.

My sync was not working and I tried everything but I found that it worked if I used task manager to fully shutdown steam and restart it, hope this helps anyone else

Project Zomboid worked fine earlier today (1st of April 2023), but now it could not sync. Verifying the files didn't help, so I closed Steam and ran it as administrator and then it worked without problem! Thank you so much!

A running VPN client can also cause this problem. Try to deactivate it and restart steam.
