Stretching should be seen as a more “zen” body mod, in that it takes great patience and commitment to get them to look how you want them to. It should take years to get them huge and then people can look at you and say “wow this person is so cool it must’ve taken a long time to get to that size.”

I took my plugs out for a week while I was sick and shoved them back in... do not do that. I am so lucky my ears did not blow out.

i remember in high school, people would get blowouts & make fun of me for still being at a smaller size. i’m 25 now & still only at 14mm (i’ve taken them out 3 times now) & now those people have ripped lobes & i will never be sorry for taking my time.

I stopped stretching when I got to 10mm bc my right earlobe had an injury from when I was like four a year before I got my ears pierced it got cut in half trying to get out of a slippery bathtub and I fell and hit the side of my head on the foset that had one of those things you have to pull up to turn on the shower head so I had to get stitches and I can still feel and see where the scar is but my right earlobe is significantly smaller than my left so I stopped bc I didn't want to rip it. No one notices the size difference really except for children bc they point out all your issues.

Ear stretching looks amazing but I'm way too impatient to stretch my ears lol I'd likely end up with a crusty ear or an ear bootyhole and I don't want that🤣

Good to know! I think its great that people are spreading this info so that others won’t make this mistake.

started my apprenticeship last month and my mentor knowingly blew out someone's ears.. getting a lot of red flags but i don't want to give up piercing. dilemma !

Yep, 1mm every two to three months is the safest bet. I know it'll take forever but trust me, it's worth it. Now don't fret if you do everything right and eventually end up with blowouts after years of having stretched ears as they may occur naturally over time of having to pop jewelry in and out, however these blowouts are ridiculously small okay, they're usually in the back and only recognizable by you and a quick visit to a dermatologist will get them taken care of and honestly that's only if they really bother you that much. So yeah just be aware the tiniest ones are somewhat a normal occurance depending on your genetics.

I'm at 7.5mm. it's taken me three years to get here. But that's ok, because my lobes are SUPER healthy

I’ve had gauges for years. This can happen anytime from crappy jewelry or leaving them out for too long and not cleaning enough. Gotta stay on top of it!

reminder to everyone that blowouts are not always going to end badly! some people can heal them a lot faster and better than others but it is still very important to take care of them and be slow with your stretching journey. wait until the blowout is completely healed. ive gotten so many blowouts and they are horrible. my most recent one was the worst but for some reason it healed faster than other ones ive had and you cant feel the excess tissue on the back of my lobe anymore. but you want to make sure that you still practice safe stretching and baby your lobes so they stay healthy, thick, and round.

Been stretching mine very safely. It's took me 9 months to get to 6mm. The 3mm to 4mm stretch was the longest wait ever, took about 3 months waiting until I was ready to stretch. So glad I haven't had any problems, only one throughout my journey.

Thank you for this important video.
I have learned a lesson when I tried piercing my ears. During the 2020 pandemic, I was inspired by the actress Noomi Repace her first original goth girl Lisbeth Salander character, she had quite a few piercings on her ear, so I tried piercing my own ears at home. With a safety pin dipped rubbing alcohol and light the needle with a lighter so I can push in.
My ears were infected and they hurt. I had a pimple on the piercing spot. So I took them out.
At the end of October 2022, that is when I discovered a really great five star rated professional piercing place and asked about ear stretching. I had ti work from the smallest to the big size, getting my ear stretched by a professional piercer.
Right now today I am at 5/8 gauge.

I wish someone had told me this when I was younger. I stretched from a 14g to an 8g in about 90 seconds, and definitely heard some "cracking and/or ripping" noises coming from my lobes. Luckily it wasn't "too" severe and I ended up making it all the way to a 2g before deciding to take them out for good. Haven't had rings in for almost 15 years now but still have holes about the size of an 8g that will probably never close up.

currently stretching my ears and this is the video i needed to remind me to go slow😭 i’m only at 10g rn but i’m working towards 00g. i’m also dead-stretching cause i’ve heard that’s the best way to avoid blowouts.
