Greetings Norman. I agree with you when it comes to the chunkiness of most modern watches. These days at least, thinner mechanical watches it seems, always come at a large premium.

Good point my friend, as to most newer pieces a tad chunky.
I have a vintage Omega Seamaster (circa '62) and it's sleek.
You would like it, it's on the original Beads of Rice Bracelet.
They still can be had in the $600 range.

On traveller GMT's you set the date using the hour hand, they go backwards & forwards too usually.

The original Blancpain Fifty Fanthoms was perfection
any reinvention would be Sacrillegious.

The traveler's GMT is sort of the high bar for the complication, but the price made them unobtainable. So, most GMTs on the market are cheaper, but lack good functionality when traveling. They are more like second time zone trackers, but setting them in the new time zone is a two-step process. Miyota, however, just released a new traveler's GMT movement that has already been one of the most exciting things to happen in the last year. Check out Traska's versions of it (Venturer) that just released yesterday, because they just look SUPER, and are priced so well. Seriously, 2023 will likely see a slew of microbrand releases with this low-priced traveler's GMT.

I've only recently learned anything to speak of about watches . I've seen vids on the caller and travelers GMT but I'm pretty sure I've seen two watches recently that are essentially just a regular watch that has a bi-rotating bezel which has the same markings as the dial . That'd be 3 types just the last ones cheating ?

Oops . Bi-directional they say I'm sure .

I have the perfect GMT watch. By pressing a button it swaps the main time to the extra GMT dial and vice versa. I really love this function. But I have to confess, that a G-Shock G-Steel is…. Hmmm… a bit of a very fat beauty. 🍶🥄🥢🥛
