There should be a mod that gives evey civ (at least architectury based) different looks for every unit, I mean... champion aztecs with a greatsword and european armor? incan onagers (they didn't even discover the wheel). Same balance wise, only different skins.

Fun fact: origin of cataphract is from the ancient Persian empire. If you have played aoe 1, you will know that Romans didn't have decent cavalry.

Considering they are just an unique upgrade, this is rather reasonable that they just barely edge out a victory over their counterpart. Halbediers should still beat them in unit size per cost so it shouldn’t be too threatening for anyone who don’t rely on Generic Paladins. It’s also a good thing that they decided to remove the 5 gold bonus for military units they kill

Honestly didn't think Savar would win. I thought the change was to make Savars better than Pals against archery, at the cost of being worse vs melee cavalry/infantry. I wonder if the attack rate difference is a bug they didn't notice and if it'll be patched out? (I hope not because persians are great). And I can't see how it could be a bug because they'd have to have manually changed it it's not like they would have copied it off an existing unit?
