Welcome to Voices of the Void. Voices of the Void is a Signal Simulator-like game. You work as a scientist in an isolated research lab in the mountains of Switzerland. Your task is to gather signals from space, analyze them, process them and sell them to get points.
You can get regular signals and objects like dwarf planets and stars, or you can get something "unusual" or "strange". I work as operator of radiotelescope for university and I have few things to say:
You don't want control room in computer room, computers need to be cooled and you would be really cold
I wish my job was that exiting, I just run already prepared scripts and watch YT because everything is automated and have nothing to do
Download time is/was a thing and it matters a lot. Our telescope can download like 5 GB/s and it's just one telescope but we don't save it on disks everything is processed automatically.
The reason why there are multiple smaller antennas here is because having multiple telescopes spread out make something like one giant telescope. It's called interferometry and we do that too, we have international observations with multiple telescopes spread out really far making one giant telescope
