I had wanted to design and develop an Indy for many years. I remember asking Amati, when I worked there, if I could do an Indy. They just laughed as they could not even pronounce the name - so that was a no. So Indy was always going to be one of the first of the larger kits I develop once I started my own range...

What a beautiful kit Jason, congratulations.
Vanguard models have gone to town and made a show stopper. Enjoying the first impressions in segments.

Pause and have a cuppa? Forget that! Opened a bottle of wine and finished it before the end, mate! What a beauty - I see what you mean…. Many thanks for sharing your guilty pleasure 😂 They really have detailed a step by step approach - which is much more that Artesania Latina have done - kudos to Vanguard for that 👍🏻👍🏻

As my English relations would say "Goodness Gracious Me!' Pricey but just the plans are worth the cost. This model has made my bucket list.

I have bought this kit, for the same reasons Jason did, will start when I have finished La Belle Poule. My first Vanguard model, and a real challenge, but the detailed instructions inspire confidence. Vanguard seem to be making these in batches of six, and sell quickly. Every modeller's dream kit!!

This is fantastic Jason! I will take your advice and not order this kit yet. However, I will be ordering HMS Sherborne in 2025.

I am excited!

Cheers

Fire buckets are quite easy to produce using Aluminium foil from "take away" oven food trays at supermarkets. (Lots of thicknesses available.) Wrap a strip around a tapered dowel or thick pencil. Superglue a straight joint. Cut top and bottom parallel, and add thin wire for handle. Use a leather punch to produce a circle to fit as base.

That looks absolutely amazing. It looks very well engineered. It must have taken a tremendous amount of work to develop the kit. Although I would love to build it, I don’t think it’s something I would be able to do with my skill level. I may try one of Vanguards simple models to see if I want to develop the skills. I may just get the kit you’re currently building and follow along. Thank you for the wonderful review.

That ship is awesome. I really hope you are going to do a build series on it.

Oh, I’m more than a little bit jealous, Jason! Well done that man!

Top drawer, Jason. Superb review of a kit that I will admire from afar! (Still very tempted by the Sherbourne, though...)

Excellent in-depth review of what looks to be a fantastic kit. Congratulations should go to the designer, Chris Watton, for producing such a well engineered quality kit.
Good advice regarding this not being a beginners kit, how many unfinished HMS Victory models out there?

I have a tip about keeping wood bundles together, I use small nylon cable/zip ties, just don't over tighten otherwise you could end up marking the wood.

“Indefatigable “ persisting tirelessly. Yep that’s pretty much what you’re going to have to be Jason.
