Sam Cooke sent me here. Mentions this in having a party. Says “no other songs will do.”

Big hit "Sam Cooke" summer '62 in LA. I was 11 and bought the 45 at the local record store. Played the grooves off.

Awesome, I started listening to Boots Randolph, and jamming along with his recordings. The greats are the best

Such a tight track. I was 11 when this ruled the LA air waves on KFWB "channel 98" and 11 ten KRLA. I'm 70 - amazing I remember that. '62 was the last "care free" summer. Next fall Cuban Missle Crises and a year later JFK blown away.

Yea, WVOL Nashville! This was out 2 years before I was born! I'm 56 now, this is my kind of Soul Music. I worked at WVOL in the 80s when we went Classic Soul Oldies, but I wonder why we didn't play this OR I did the overnight shift and was so sleepy I missed it? It was a tight format when I was there. Believe it or not at WVOL, The Mighty 147, I would play Foreigner's "I've Been Waiting For A Girl Like You", a White Song, not on our playlist, but my listeners wanted it! I knew what they knew what they were doing😁! (HA)

It's so sad to here what happened to him HIs life was snuffed out by two drug dealers sitting right out in front of his apartment.

This reminds me a lot of some of the great sides by Bill Doggett, the great organist-bandleader from Philly.
